Angela Cainazzo

My name is Angela. I am currently studying BSc in Biomolecular Science and Technology at the University of Foggia, Italy. I am pursuing my bachelor’s thesis internship at MerLaB, where I find everything very exciting and where I am also enjoying the process of learning. I love to organise my days for the experiments. My favourite hobby is photography, and I also love enjoying carbonara.

Eleonora Di Venere

My name is Eleonora and I studied Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine at the Aldo Moro University of Bari. I joined Merla Lab first as a master’s student and then as a research collaborator. Here I am studying a rare genetic disorder, IDDCA syndrome, that is characterized by intellectual developmental delay and cardiac arrhythmia. I am very curious, resolute and I like to find a way for everything to work. I love sports, walking and hiking, indeed take a break and getting lost in nature is the most restoring thing for me. So, if you want to go climbing a mountain or have an adventure in the woods, you know who to call!

Giorgia Gemma

My name is Giorgia. I graduated with BSc in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies and currently I am studying MSc in Medical Biotechnologies and Molecular Medicine at the Aldo Moro University of Bari. At present I am pursuing my MSc thesis internship at MerLaB, and I think this is a great opportunity for me in order to deepen my knowledge in this field that has always fascinated me. Those who know me say I am very persistent, organized, ambitious, and hard-working person who is always open to new challenges. I think it’s very important to have goals in life that can motivate you to work for it without thinking what it takes to achieve.

Gabriella Maria Squeo

My name is Gabriella, I took my BSc in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques and then I took the MSc in Sanitary Biology at the University of Siena. I really like walking on foot, to better explore a city or nature, and travelling, but sometimes I prefer to stay at home, watching movies or TV series. I love working at my lab bench, set the experiments, try different protocols and techniques. I’m really very organized, and I usually try to keep everything under control (maybe , sometimes, too much!) My main field of interest are Chromatinopathies, rare mendelian syndromes caused by alterations in the components of the epigenetic machinery.

Dr. Utsa Bhaduri, PhD

I’m Utsa Bhaduri from India. I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Prof. Giuseppe Merla at the University of Naples Federico II. As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in the TRIM-NET ITN of European Commission, I completed my doctoral thesis under supervision of Prof. Merla and I was awarded a PhD in Molecular Biomedicine from the University of Trieste, Italy. My doctoral thesis elucidated the role of E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM8 as a multifunctional workhorse during the course of mitotic cell cycle using a multi-omics strategy. My major research interest lies at the intersection of fundamental research on cell cycle and genomics-inspired cancer drug discovery.
